Going For Your First Skydive? 3 Ways To Make It A Safe And Enjoyable Experience


Skydiving is one of those extreme sports that almost everyone wants to try at least once in their life. It is an activity that many people have on their bucket list because of the excitement and adrenaline rush that comes with it. The sport involves dropping out of a moving aircraft and dropping for thousands of feet in freefall. It is natural to feel anxious if you have never skydived before, but the possibility of anything going wrong is extremely rare.  One of the best ways to calm your nerves and have a great skydiving experience is by preparing well before the actual dive. 

Here are three things that you can do to prepare for the dive.

Follow the Instructor's Word

The first thing you should have in mind when registering for skydiving is that the instructor is the expert. You might get a lot of advice from your friends that were paratroopers or your friend that has skydived before. However, the instructor understands your specific drop zone better. They have used it for thousands of dives, and they understand the aerodynamics of skydiving, the wind and other aspects of this sport.

According to most skydiving instructors, you should relax and ensure your body takes a banana shape as soon as you exit the plane. It is the best position to help the air pressure balance your body and to avoid accidents.

Do Not Touch the Instructors Arms

The instructor will need to have their arms free during the freefall. It is the only way they can balance their body and also deploy the parachute. It is normal to feel scared, especially immediately after you exit the plane. However, it's important that you trust in the safety measures that the instructors put in place to ensure no harm comes to you as you dive. Also, remember to lift your knees and feet when you approach the landing zone, as this will help you land without falling.

Eat Lightly Before the Dive

Another thing you need to do is eat a meal before the dive. Skydiving on an empty stomach can leave you feeling nauseous. However, avoid overeating before the dive to ensure you don't end up vomiting. Eat a light and healthy meal before the drop.

Finally, remember that skydiving is an activity meant for fun. Relax and follow the instructor's instructions to enjoy the experience. Also, remember to ask for the video recording of the drop so you can always remember the skydiving experience.
